Medicaid Service Coordination (MSC)

Medicaid Service Coordinator or MSC meets with you regularly to discuss services available though the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). A plan is developed to meet your specific service needs and desires which focuses on a broad range of activities. Your Medicaid Service Coordinator will help you identify what services and support you need. They will help you select and enroll in services and supports and then monitor these services and their helpfulness to you. In order to receive this service:

A person must have a documented diagnosis of a developmental disability
A person must be enrolled in Medicaid
A person must demonstrate a need for ongoing and comprehensive, rather than incidental, service coordination
A person, or an individual authorized to give consent on behalf of the person, must choose to receive MSC
A person must not permanently live in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), Developmental Center (DC), Psychiatric Hospital, Small Residential Unit (SRU), Nursing Facility or Hospital, or any other Medicaid funded setting that provides service coordination
A person cannot be enrolled in any other comprehensive Medicaid long-term care service coordination program
