Sliding Fee Scale in St. Lawrence & Franklin Counties

Effective September 1, 2007, Community Health Centers of the North Country in St. Lawrence and Franklin Counties were designated Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC). The designation accompanied $600K of Federal Grant monies which will allow the two clinics to reach out to the uninsured and underinsured residents of these counties to provided primary health care, health education and clinical case management services.

On January 1, 2008, a sliding fee scale was initiated in both counties for some services for individuals who are at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Discounts will be given according to income and family size. Primary care and some dental services are eligible for the sliding fee scale in St. Lawrence County, as well as Primary Care services in Franklin County. Community Health Center of the North Country is planning to hire more medical and professional staff, expand clinic services, and participate in community events that promote healthy lifestyles and education.
